Kudos to Lexi-Noodle!!

Lexi participated in her school "Sport-A-Thon" on Friday. It is one of only 2 fundraisers for her school for the year and they raised $21,000!! She had to run the track (she made it 3 times!) jump rope and kick soccer goals.

She also won a DVD player in a raffle - we may never see her again! :-)

We're so proud of her for how she did!! Yeah Lexi!!

Almost 2 years to the day later...

We finally fixed the front yard!! And by "we", I mean Mitch and Tucker! It was a long hard road, but it's taking shape now. Some plants, rocks and flowers and we will no longer be the nastiest yard in the neighborhood!! Woohoo!!

A little short video of Tucker and Mitch working and then some final parting shots...enjoy!

I think the evidence is clear...

I really don't think anything more needs to be said...

Tanner...in Tan

Build me a son, whose heart will be clear, whose goals will be high, a son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men, one who will learn to laugh, yet never forget to weep, one who will reach into the future, yet never forget the past.

Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our Nation...

Recently while watching TV on ABC I caught a glimpse of a bump into and out of a show preview which declared next week "National Stay at Home Week". I thought it a little odd, having never heard of such an animal before, so I took it upon myself to research it further.

Turns out that ABC has decided to make up said observance. It has nothing to do with the nation and our well-being. Rather it has to do with ABC putting it out there as a concept to "stay home" for your entertainment. On their website they state that they have declared the holiday because, "Times are tough! Stay at home and watch ABC television!"

I am so glad that ABC is thinking about little ole' me and my struggles with the increasing costs of day to day living.
Gas prices got you down? Stay in to catch "Dancing with the Stars!"

Soaring food prices stretching your family budget? Eat at home, then do little couch time watching ABC...maybe "Grey's Anatomy."

Call me cynical, but a major network declaring a "National Week" of any kind seems presumptuous. To do so during the first week of the new fall TV season just seems contrived and insulting to my intelligence.

I think I'll stick to observances that really are proclaimed by our President. Real stuff that means something in the grand scheme of it all.

And with that, I give you "Constitution Week", September 17th through the 23rd. Enjoy it and reflect on one of the greatest documents ever written. (Next to this blog, of course)

Lest you doubt me, here's the actual proclamation:

From the U.S. Code Online via GPO Access[wais.access.gpo.gov]

[Laws in effect as of January 3, 2006][CITE: 36USC108]

TITLE 36--PATRIOTIC AND NATIONAL OBSERVANCES, CEREMONIES, AND ORGANIZATIONS

Subtitle I--Patriotic and National Observances and Ceremonies

Part A--Observances and Ceremonies

CHAPTER 1--PATRIOTIC AND NATIONAL OBSERVANCES Sec. 108. Constitution Week

The President is requested to issue each year a proclamation--

(1) designating September 17 through September 23 as Constitution Week; and

(2) inviting the people of the United States to observe Constitution Week, in schools, churches, and other suitable places, with appropriate ceremonies and activities.

Joke of the Day

She really isn't making progress on her skills as fast as one would think. And, yes, the blur going back and forth would be her helpful little brother.

Joke of the Day:

Why don't seagulls live at the bay?

Because if they did, they'd be BAGELS!!

Home from the Beach...

Out of the Rolling Ocean the Crowd
by Walt Whitman(1819-1892)
Out of the rolling ocean the crowd came a drop gently to me,
Whispering I love you, before long I die,
I have travel'd a long way merely to look on you to touch you,
For I could not die till I once look'd on you,
For I fear'd I might afterward lose you.

Now we have met, we have look'd, we are safe,
Return in peace to the ocean my love,
I too am part of that ocean my love, we are not so much separated,
Behold the great rondure, the cohesion of all, how perfect!
But as for me, for you, the irresistible sea is to separate us,
As for an hour carrying us diverse, yet cannot carry us diverse forever;
Be not impatient--a little space--know you I salute the air, the ocean and the land,
Every day at sundown for your dear sake my love.

Super Scrumptous Saturday

We began this morning like we do a lot of Saturday mornings...making blueberry pancakes. Ingredients needed:

One excited chef:
His sister, who for the life of her can't remember that it's called an "apron", not a "bra"!The littlest Kneipp...just mad as all get out he doesn't get to EAT any of the pancakes yet!

Add some batter and some blueberries...mix well.

Cook and ENJOY!
CR*P! How did that get in there?!?!?!?!

Joke of the Day

I don't know that they are ready for the big stage as of yet...

In case you missed them:

Why didn't the crab share his toys?
Because he was SHELLFISH!

Why did the frog eat the lamp?
Because he wanted a LIGHT snack!

How do turtles call each other?
On their SHELLPHONES!

Hardeharhar.

Technical Difficulties

We have been without Internet and phone service all day today.

You would think all of the air had been sucked out of the atmosphere. I was DYING! Felt like I was missing out on all sorts of things...emailing, blogging, checking bank balances, reading the news online (what hurricane?) catching up on my celebrity gossip, My Space, Facebook, you know - all the things that make life bearable!

Thankfully it should be fixed tomorrow. I really need to find out if Angelina is still mad that Brad is chatting with Jen.

Then I need to admit that I have a problem. I am addicted to the Internet. There must be a 12 step program out there for me somewhere...if I could just stop blogging long enough to find it.

:-)

P.S. Short enough for you, Mother?

Labor Day

The vital force of labor added materially to the highest standard of living and the greatest production the world has ever known and has brought us closer to the realization of our traditional ideals of economic and political democracy. It is appropriate, therefore, that the nation pay tribute on Labor Day to the creator of so much of the nation's strength, freedom, and leadership —
the American worker.
